Devotee is more kind than the Lord

Source: BG 3.29 Purport

PrabhupadaMen who are ignorant cannot appreciate activities in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and therefore Lord Kṛṣṇa advises us not to disturb them and simply waste valuable time. But the devotees of the Lord are more kind than the Lord because they understand the purpose of the Lord. Consequently, they undertake all kinds of risks, even to the point of approaching ignorant men to try to engage them in the acts of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, which are absolutely necessary for the human being.

Mrgari hunter and Narada muni

Speaker: Srila Prabhupada
Source: Devotional Desire

Narada Muni and MrgariIn this connection I shall recite one historical incident from the Puranas. There was a hunter in Prayag. Prayag, as you know, is in Allahabad. He kept hunting in the forest indiscriminately. Once, Narada Muni was passing through the jungle and felt very compassionate towards the animals who were half-dead and half-killed by the hunter. Narada Muni, being a Vaisnava, was very kind to all living entities. Therefore,he went to the hunter whose name was Mrgari. But the Mrgari was under the impression that “This saintly person is coming to me for some deerskin.”

Equal to all but partial to devotees

Krishna-with-friendsBG 9.29: I envy no one, nor am I partial to anyone. I am equal to all. But whoever renders service unto Me in devotion is a friend, is in Me, and I am also a friend to him. One may question here that if Krsna is equal to everyone and no one is His special friend, then why does He take a special interest in the devotees who are always engaged in His transcendental service?

  1. This is not discrimination; it is natural.
  2. Lord reciprocates according to how one approaches him - (ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāṁs tathaiva bhajāmy ahamBG 4.11)

Lord’s protection from death

Source: SB 7.10.29

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA“Everyone is sure to die, for no one is excused from the hands of death, which is but a feature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead: mrtyu sarva-haras caham [Bg. 10.34]). When one becomes a devotee, however, he is not destined to die according to a limited duration of life. Everyone has a limited duration of life, but a devotee’s lifetime can be extended by the mercy of the Supreme Lord, who is able to nullify the results of one’s karma: karmani nirdahati kintu ca bhakti-bhajam [Bs. 5.54]. Krsna Prabhupada JaladutaAs Prabhupāda sat in his hotel room that evening with a few disciples at his feet, he reminisced about how he had come to America in 1965 and had suffered two heart attacks at sea. “They say that anyone who gets a third heart attack,” said Prabhupāda, “they must expire. SB 1.1.20–23: Hearing as a sacrifice

SB 1.1.20: Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Personality of Godhead, along with Balarāma, played like a human being, and so masked He performed many superhuman acts.

The Lord exhibited His divinity even from the lap of His mother, that His deeds are all superhuman (He lifted Govardhana Hill at the age of seven), and that all these acts definitely prove Him to be actually the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Yet, due to His mystic covering, He was always accepted as an ordinary human child by His so-called father and mother and other relatives. Whenever some herculean task was performed by Him, the father and mother took it otherwise. And they remained satisfied with unflinching parental love for their son. As such, the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya describe Him as apparently resembling a human being, but actually He is the supreme almighty Personality of Godhead.

Mother Yasoda protects Krsna

Source: Putana Killed

When the gopīs saw little Kṛṣṇa fearlessly playing on Putana’s lap, they very quickly came and picked Him up. Mother Yasoda, Rohiṇī and other elder gopīs immediately performed the auspicious rituals by taking the tail of a cow and circumambulating His body. The child was completely washed with the urine of a cow, and the dust created by the hooves of the cows was thrown all over His body. This was all just to save little Kṛṣṇa from future inauspicious accidents.

After this purificatory process, the gopīs, headed by Mother Yasoda and Rohiṇī, chanted the names of
