Kids Diwali and Govardhan Puja

Kids made this year’s Diwali and Govardhan puja very special by making these wonderful offerings to Krsna.

  • First two are the essays written by them at their school – Goswami Academy.
  • Next one is Nrsimha’s coloring of Giriraj
  • Next one is their beginning of “Rama Koti” –  Rama in Sanskrit and English
  • Last one is “Giriraj stone art” with an offering of crafted fruits.

Can you guess what fruits are being offered?

Nārada muni’s glories

At the beginning of Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1, Chapter6, Srila Vyasadeva asks three questions to Nārada muni about his previous life. The last one of which is, “How do you remember your previous life from the previous day of Brahma (4.32 billion years ago)”. Nārada muni replies to this question from 1.6.26 onwards.

After the Lord stopped speaking, Nārada muni (in his previous body) led rest of his life chanting the holy name and fame of the Lord and traveled all over the earth fully satisfied, humble and unenvious. In due course of time as he was fully Krsna conscious, when

Aarti for the new kids’ altar

Though we bought them the stuffed toys of Radha Krsna, Nrsimha deva, Prahlad maharaja etc. when the kids were as young as a year old, I never saw them consciously treating them as the forms of the Lord. To my great surprise, with the addition of new small Radha Krsna yesterday, Maharathi was fired up to setup an altar for all of them and insisted on performing the aarathi.

Kids took turn in the ceremony, performing the aarthi and practicing their new mrdanga learning skills.

Thanking Krsna and kids for showing me this day.

Seeing Krishna everywhere

Speaker: HDG Srila Prabhupada
Source: Expert at everything

“Actually, there is nothing but Krishna all around us. This is explained in the Gita. He is the taste of water, the light of the moon, the fragrance of the flower, the light of the sun, the sound in the sky, the power of the strong, and so on. So one who is actually making progress in Krishna consciousness, he can see Krishna everywhere. At any stage of life, who can avoid the sunlight, the moonlight, the fragrance of the flower, the taste of the water, the sound of the sky,

Example of attachment

Speaker: Srila Prabhupada
Source: Increase your attachment to the Lord

So the temple is the facility how to become the first-class yogi and how to become the first-class devotee simply by increasing your attachment. This attachment, there is one example that one brahmana, he was daily seeing Lord Ramacandra and then he was breaking his fast. So Ramacandra was out of His station for some royal business. So this brahmana did not take even water seven days. So when Ramacandra returned, Laksmana informed Lord Ramacandra, “Here is Your devotee, My Lord. Because You were absent for seven days and he could

Serving dog instead of serving God

Speaker:  Srila Prabhupada
Source:  Swami Invites the Hippies

As they passed the shuffleboard courts and the old men playing checkers, Prabhupāda stopped and turned to the boys. “Just see,” he said. “Old people in this country do not know what to do. So they play like children, wasting their last days, which should be meant for developing Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Their children are grown and gone away, so this is a natural time for spiritual cultivation. But no. They get some cat or dog, and instead of serving God, they serve dog. It is most unfortunate. But they will not listen. Their

Tiny experience

Speaker: Srila Prabhupada
Source: SB 6.1.1-2, Melbourne, May 22, 1975

Devotee: “It says in the scriptures that Lord Brahma rides on a swan. Do we take this to mean it’s a real swan, or is it symbolic?”
Prabhupada: “Not symbolic, it is fact. Why do you say symbolic?”
Devotee: “Because it’s rather unusual.”
Prabhupada: “Unusual? What experience have you got? (laughter) You have no experience. Have you got experience of other planetary systems, what is there? Your experience is very tiny. So you should not calculate Brahma’s life and other things by your tiny experience…Your experience is nothing. Therefore, you have to

Seeing everything as Krsna’s energy

Speaker: Radhanath Swami
Source: Servant of the Servant

One time in Mayapura big big leaders of ISKCON were giving presentations, Prabhupada looked at the open field and pointed his cane and said “can’t you see”. They were puzzled, again he raised his voice and said “can’t you see”. Devotees thought may be Prabhupada is seeing Radha Krsna dancing and they were supposed to see. Again Prabhupada said “can’t you see”, then later Prabhupada walked into the middle of the field and stopped a leaking water faucet. He said “it is Krsna’s energy, we should not waste it”. He paused

Vasudeva is everything but everything is not Vasudeva

Speaker: Srila Prabhupada
Source:  Ford is car but car is not Ford

lineupGod, by His plenary expansion, He is situated everywhere. Therefore, His name is Vasudeva. Now Vasudeva is the origin of everything. So that is explained in the Bhagavad-gita, vasudevah sarvam iti sa mahatma sudurlabhah (Bg. 7.19). Anyone who has understood that everything, whatever we see, that is Vasudeva… But we should always remember that Vasudeva is everything; still, everything is not Vasudeva. Just like in a big factory. In your country or in America that Ford, Mr. Ford,

Process of receiving transcendental knowledge

Speaker: Srila Prabhupada
Source: Relatively Dirty Or Absolutely Clean

slide3-1000x468We receive knowledge from the authority. Everyone receives knowledge from the authority, but general authority, and our process of accepting authority is little different. Our process of accepting one authority means he is also accepting his previous authority. One cannot be authority self-made. That is not possible. Then it is imperfect. I have given this example many times, that a child learns from his father. The child asks the father, “Father, what is this machine?” and the father says, “My dear child,

SB-1.2.28-29: Vasudeva – Our ultimate goal

SB 1.1 1978 Plate 12-iSB 1.2.28-29: In the revealed scriptures, the ultimate object of knowledge is Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Personality of Godhead. The purpose ofperforming sacrifice is to please Him. Yoga is for realizing Him. All fruitive activities are ultimately rewarded by Him only. He is supreme knowledge, and all severe austerities are performed to know Him. Religion [dharma] is rendering loving service unto Him. He is the supreme goal of life.

That Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Personality of Godhead, is the only object of worship is confirmed in these two ślokas. In the Vedic literature there is the same objective: establishing one’s relationship and ultimately reviving our lost loving service unto Him. That is the sum and substance of the Vedas. In the Bhagavad-gītā the same theory is confirmed by the Lord in His own words: the ultimate purpose of the Vedas is to know Him only.

In Boston I was invited in the Massachusetts Technological Institute? Yes. So I, first of all I questioned the students that “You have got technological department. So where is the technology where we can understand the difference between a dead man and a living man? What is the thing is lost that a body’s called dead body? What is that technology.” So I talked on this point. The students appreciated very much. Actually, there is no technology why a
