Jagannatha dasa Babaji

Speaker: Giriraj Swami
Source: Tamal Krishna Goswami’s and Jagannatha dasa Babaji’s Disappearance Day

Today is Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji Maharaja’s disappearance day. He comes in the Gaudiya Vaishnava disciplic succession after Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura and Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana. He was a renounced ascetic, fully engaged in chanting the holy names of Krishna and meditating on His pastimes. For some time, he made his residence at Surya-kunda in Vraja-dhama, near the temple of Suryadeva, where Srimati Radharani used to come and worship the sun-god—or, I should say, where She used to come to meet Krishna on the pretext of coming to worship

Seperation from Krsna

Speaker:  Indradyumna Swami
Source:  Indradyumna Swami with Srila Prabhupada

Indradyumna Swami: “Srila Prabhupada you’ve mentioned several times in recent lectures that a pure devotee can see Krsna everywhere – that He’s never out of your vision. And at the same time in Siksastakam prayers Lord Chaitanya explains that, Govinda, I am feeling Your separation to be 12 years of more. I am feeling vacant in His absence.’ Could you explain this?”
Srila Prabhupada: “Yes. He’s playing how you can become mad without seeing Krsna. That is higher stage. It cannot be explained. But when you gradually go higher you’ll

Love of Krsna

Speaker:  Srila Prabhupada
Source: Devotee Doesn’t Want Anything

krishna_26_fullJust like Caitanya Mahaprabhu teaches: aslisya va pada-ratam pinastu mam marma-hatam karotu va adarsanat. A devotee desires to see Krsna. But he says: “I don’t mind if You break my heart by not being present. I don’t mind. You break my heart.” Because a devotee is always anxious to see Krsna. Just like Radharani. She’s always anxious to see Krsna. But Krsna does not come. Just like Krsna left all the gopis, immediately went to Mathura. Renouncement. So much

How to easily understand Krsna

Speaker: Srila Prabhupada
Source: Spiritual Life Is Scientific

sri-caitanya-mahaprabhuSo it is not so easy to understand Sri Krsna. Manusyanam sahasresu kascid yatati siddhaye, yatatam api siddhanam: (BG. 7.3) “Those who have endeavored for perfection of life, out of many such persons, one can hardly understand Krsna.” It is not so easy. But it is by Krsna’s grace. Krsna being very compassionate with these fallen souls of this age, He appeared as Lord Caitanya and distributed Krsna. That is His prerogative. That is His right. If Krsna wants to distribute

I am so unfortunate

Speaker: Srila Prabhupada

542118_547333928611206_1279572843_nSo if you want to know God, then you have to follow the prescribed rules and regulations of bhagavad-bhakti-yoga. It is very simple. It is made very easy, especially in this age: simply by chanting Hare Krsna mantra. It’s so made easy, but we are so unfortunate that we do not take advantage of this. Etadrsi tava krpa bhagavan mamapi durdaivam idrsam ihajani nanuragah. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu laments, “My dear Lord, You are so compassionate and merciful upon us that in this

1538Lord Caitanya and Rupa GoswamiLord Caitanya Mahāprabhu should therefore not be considered one of us. He is Kṛṣṇa Himself, the Supreme living entity, and as such He never comes under the cloud of māyā. Kṛṣṇa, His expansions and even His higher devotees never fall into the clutches of illusion. Lord Caitanya came to earth simply to preach kṛṣṇa-bhakti, love of Kṛṣṇa. In other words, He is Lord Kṛṣṇa Himself teaching the living entities the proper way to approach Kṛṣṇa. He is like a teacher who,

Lord Caitanya being called as God

Source: SB 1.2.16 Purport

mahaprabhu4The servants of God urge people to become devotees of the Lord. They never tolerate being called God. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was God Himself according to the indication of the revealed scriptures, but He played the part of a devotee. People who knew Him to be God addressed Him as God, but He used to block His ears with His hands and chant the name of Lord Visnu. He strongly protested against being called God, although undoubtedly He was God Himself. The Lord behaves so to warn

Worship the deity to take birth in America

Speaker: Indradyumna Swami
Source: The Postage – Stamp

ids_large_0One time, one of my god brothers was visiting a temple in Vrindavana in the 1970’s and was praying very sincerely in front of the deity and the pujari, who was a bit of a smartha brahmana at that time, said to my god brother, “You are praying very nicely to the deity. So in your next life you can start to achieve perfection. You can take birth in India, and maybe become a brahmana.” This is their idea that they are superior

Five principles that awaken one’s love for Krsna

Source: CC Madhya 22.128

5 PrinciplesThe five potent ways that awaken one’s dormant love for Krsna, as given by Caitanya mahaprabhu are:

  1. Association of devotees
  2. Chanting the holy name of the Lord
  3. Hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
  4. Residing at Mathurā
  5. Worshiping the Deity with faith and veneration.

‘The power of these five principles is very wonderful and difficult to understand. Even without faith in them, a person who is offenseless can awaken his dormant love of Kṛṣṇa simply by being a little connected with them.’ (CC Madhya 22.133)
