Frustration or Fulfillment

Our frustration in this world mainly comes due to unfulfilled desires or that we did not get as much happiness as we expected. We all know there is a factor of “Karma” which determines whether our desires will be fulfilled and Lord Krsna in Bhagavad Gita clearly tells this material happiness is temporary and not truly satisfying as we are actually not these bodies.

Therefore, what hope do we have then, while we are in these

Reverential mood towards Spiritual Master

I am thinking of one or two incidents I can mention, and some realizations I had from them. One was the last morning Srila Prabhupada was in Bombay, in Juhu. I was fortunate-actually by Giriraj Maharaja’s mercy-to be able to be in Srila Prabhupada’s room then. After about a month in Bombay, Srila Prabhupada was leaving that morning for Vrindavan. Madhava Prabhu and Upendra Prabhu were also there, though Upendra was in and out of the room.
Srila Prabhupada was just lying on his bed. He could hardly move.

Seperation from Krsna

Speaker:  Indradyumna Swami

Indradyumna Swami: “Srila Prabhupada you’ve mentioned several times in recent lectures that a pure devotee can see Krsna everywhere – that He’s never out of your vision. And at the same time in Siksastakam prayers Lord Chaitanya explains that, Govinda, I am feeling Your separation to be 12 years of more. I am feeling vacant in His absence.’ Could you explain this?”
Srila Prabhupada: “Yes. He’s playing how you can become mad without seeing Krsna. That is higher stage. It cannot be explained. But when you gradually go higher you’ll

His (Srila Prabhupada’s) schedule ran close to this:

1: 00 AM: Rises, chants japa and translates
3: 30 AM: Attends Aarti in his room, performed by either Purushottama or me
4: 30 AM: Attends Aarti, Srimad-Bhagavatam class, and kirtan in the main temple
6: 30 AM: Goes on a morning walk for about one hour, takes ayurvedic medicine and then a light breakfast (either Purushottama or I would go on the morning walk)
9: 00 AM: Chants kirtan

What is required to become Krishna conscious?

Speaker: Radhanath Swami
Source: We must cultivate proper desires

Srila-Prabhupada-on-Morning-Walk-with-Devotees-By-Lake-620x350Yesterday, at Radha-Rasabihari temple, my dear god-brother, Srutakirti Prabhu, who was Srila Prabhupada’s longest standing personal servant, gave a class. He cited a particular incident that is so essentially instructive to all of us. He was talking about a morning walk. I believe it was in Los Angeles. During these morning walks, it was usually only the very senior devotees that were allowed to go on walks with Srila Prabhupada and usually, all the senior devotees had so many questions they

Disappearance of Jayananda prabhu

Speaker: Tamal Krishna Goswami

3rd May 1977:
jayanandaprabhuToday we received word that Jayananda Prabhu had given up his body. When Srila Prabhupada was informed he said, “Yes, sooner or later we must all go.” Afterwards, tears came to His Divine Grace’s eyes. “He was one of my very best disciples. He was the first to give me five thousand dollars, which was used for printing Teachings of Lord Caitanya. He used to drive me in the car, and while driving he would be chanting.

We are very insignificant

Tamal-Krishna-Goswami-with-Srila-PrabhupadaRecognizing Tamal Krsna’s organizational ability, Prabhupada spends a lot of time training him in management skills. Tamal begins to think that he is getting special attention beyond that of the other devotees. Whenever the spiritual master detects false pride in a disciple he is always quick to rectify the anartha. Prabhupada brings this up in a gentle way when Tamal brings over Muralidhara’s new painting of the Bhagavatam cover for approval.

As Prabhupada studies the painting, he begins to point out the different features

Disciple should simply follow

SrimatiYamunaDeviDasiwithprabhupadaMalati devi had been commissioned by Hansadutta das to arrange for large Deities for the Hamburg temple and had found a five-foot pair of Radha-Krishna Deities in Jaipur. After returning to Bombay and telling Srila Prabhupada about Them, he immediately wanted Them for Vrindavan, even though Yamuna had been painstakingly working on plans for the Deities who were eventually installed. She later used it to illustrate that the duty of the disciple is to follow the instructions of the Spiritual Master—
